The office of President/CEO of World Relief transcends the person who fills it. I approach it with honor, humility, and prayer. While I will be accountable to the Board, I also believe in downward accountability to you. One of the best ways I can informally facilitate such accountability is through communication with you.
As we look to the future together, let’s be mindful of a few important things. First, we have every reason to hope. Because we stand for the vulnerable, we stand with God. We can be sure of our call. It is anchored in the Gospel and affirmed in the lives of those we serve.
Second, we’re making the right choices. We are building upon our rich heritage with a new mission, brand, financial system, innovation, and commitment to increase our resources. While we have a lot of work to do, these initiatives, along with others to come, will bear fruit.
Third, we must press on (Phil 3:12). Many of us our weary; some of us are downright tired. But we cannot give up. We have to pray as if there is no work, and work as if there is no prayer. Our new future requires steadfast commitment and faithful service.
It's a privilege to serve together with you all and I look forward to interacting with you through this blog.
In Christ,
Stephan
Dear Stephen,
ReplyDeleteMy wife and I are on the eve of starting what we hope to be successful and fruitful work with World Relief as volunteers in Haiti. We visit the Baltimore office on Thursday before we leave for Haiti. Hopefully we can meet you then! It's a privilege to be able to serve with this organization.
